A thousand flowers were never going to be enough… Ensor returns with a new retrospective. Featuring drawings selected from the past two decades, the exhibition shows how a body of work can grow from its early impressionistic influences, branching out in different directions over time. The exhibition takes flowers as a unifying concept, from the visual image, to playing on themes of the decorative, the romantic and the poetic. Flowers are deconstructed into explosions of colour. Sunflowers set on fire. Andrew Ensor is a Sydney based artist, his work combines acrylics, pen and watercolour on paper in a unique style that blends detailed illustration with expressive, abstract painting.
